Seawatchseawatchseawatch

Back looking offshore from Newtonhill, 18:15 - 19:15 this evening. Not very interesting... A Great Skua ripping something apart on the water was joined by 2 more going south, and there were 2 Arctic Skuas south too. Northern Gannet (107 north, 28 south), Sandwich Terns (5 north, 9 south) and err... that's it, apart from the usual Kittiwakes, 3 spp auks Northern Fulmars etc.. There were one or two juvenile Razorbills out on the water, and a single juvenile Atlantic Puffin with 2 adults. Also a steady trickle of Puffins going north, maybe about 50. Might be worth counting them once August is in.

I recorded a Razorbill chick on the water, calling to its parent. Wacky modulating call. Listen here.
